Education & Youth: Students and out-of-school youth struggle to keep pace with modern educational demands, facing disadvantages in research, school projects, and preparation for higher education or the workforce.
Agriculture & Small Business: Farmers, fisherfolk, and micro-entrepreneurs are often unable to leverage digital tools to access vital market information, promote their products online, or streamline their operations, limiting their income potential.
Employment: Job seekers without digital proficiency face significant barriers, as they are unable to create professional resumes, search for opportunities on online portals, or apply for jobs that require digital competency.
Community Services: Barangay workers and residents, especially households affected by calamities, have limited access to critical e-government services, online disaster preparedness information, and efficient communication channels, hindering public service and community resilience.

The Digital Literacy Program is a flagship community-based initiative of the Kaluppâ Foundation, designed to equip individuals across Marinduque with the essential digital skills needed for work, livelihood, and everyday life. Anchored in our unwavering commitment to inclusive education and community resilience, the program directly addresses the growing need for digital competency in our rural and vulnerable communities.

Our core mission is to bridge the digital divide by providing accessible, hands-on training that enhances employability, strengthens livelihoods, and empowers community members to participate fully and safely in the digital economy.

Program Reach & Structure

From 2023 to 2025, the program successfully delivered nine training batches, reaching 226 individuals across all six municipalities of Marinduque. To ensure accessibility, sessions are held in local community venues, including barangay halls and the Kaluppâ Integrated Farm, removing transportation and cost barriers for our participants.

This initiative is made possible through strong and strategic partnerships, which allow us to deliver a curriculum that is both relevant and impactful.

Our curriculum is designed to be intensely practical, focusing on real-world applications that build both confidence and competence. We move beyond theory to give participants the hands-on experience they need to use digital tools effectively for their personal growth, their work, and their community roles. Fundamental Digital Skills

Computer & Internet Essentials: Hands-on training in basic computer operations and confident navigation of the internet.
Document Creation: Producing professional documents, reports, and resumes using Microsoft Word.
Data Management: Managing and analyzing data, including the creation of line and pie graphs, with Microsoft Excel.
Presentation Design: Crafting engaging and informative presentations with Microsoft PowerPoint and Canva.

Digital Safety & Citizenship

Cyber Awareness: Understanding the core concepts of digital identity, cyber awareness, and the importance of data privacy under Republic Act 10173.
Online Safety Measures: Learning to identify and protect against identity theft, fake news, and other risks on social media platforms.

Livelihood & Employability

Career Development: Applying newly learned skills to search for jobs online and create compelling application materials.
Small Business Management: Using digital tools for basic financial analysis and management of small enterprises.
E-Commerce & E-Government: Exploring online platforms to promote agricultural products and access essential e-government services.

We bring the sessions directly to barangays and to our Kaluppâ Integrated Farm—described by learners as conducive—removing barriers like travel time and cost. The program is free and welcomes all ages and skill levels, backed a training team that ensures no one is left behind.

Hands-On, Practical Skill Building

Participants learn by doing—creating resumes, building spreadsheets for small businesses, crafting engaging and informative presentations for work and school, or helping prepare barangay reports—so every skill gained is immediately useful in real-life situations.

How long are the training sessions?

The intensive training sessions are typically held over two full days. While participants often express they are "left craving more," this format allows for a focused, hands-on learning experience.

Where are the training sessions held?

To ensure accessibility, our sessions are held in community-based venues. This includes the Kaluppâ Integrated Farm in Santa Cruz as well as local venues like barangay halls in municipalities across the province.

What kind of skills will I learn?

You will learn practical, real-world digital skills. The curriculum covers computer basics, internet navigation, creating documents and resumes with Microsoft Word, managing data with Excel, designing presentations with PowerPoint and Canva, and crucial topics like online safety and cyber awareness.

Do participants need to have their own computer?

No, participants do not need to bring their own devices. We provide laptops and all necessary equipment during hands‑on sessions to ensure full participation. However, those who have their own laptops are welcome to bring and use them during the training.

How do you support participants who have never used a computer before?

We understand that some learners start from a zero baseline—with no prior experience using a computer. While most participants find the training pace comfortable, we provide additional one‑on‑one guidance for complete beginners to help reduce initial learning barriers, build early confidence, and ensure they can fully participate in the sessions.
